How Long Will Chacos Last?

Are Chacos Worth It

I myself have bought an impressive amount of hiking gear, including a tent, sleeping bag, backpack, boots, compression sack (for sleeping bag), backpack cover (for rain protection), and a headlamp from Campers World. The tent is an 80-square-foot four-person Coleman that I got for $90.

How Long Will Chacos Last?

Chacos are well-worn and comfortable sandals made of rubber soles, fabric straps, and a very durable leather or canvas upper. In other words, they're perfect for any outdoor adventure — but how long will they last?

We will tell you just that: what it takes to make your Chacos last (and how to do so), numbered from the most important to the least. So whether it's day two of your ten-day Appalachian Trail hike or day one of your four-month road trip along the Panamerican Highway, you'll know just what to do.

1) Make sure you have already stretched out all creases in the canvas upper before putting them on.

2) Clean the canvas of any dust or dirt, and make sure there are no mud stains there.

3) Your Chacos will last as long as the canvas itself lasts. The only thing that will make them fall apart is neglect and abuse.

**If you do not follow all three of these procedures, they might still last a while, but they're more likely to wear out quickly.**

5) The leather upper will recommend two to three years of use for both regular usage and abuse from individuals in general (not something like a bear or moose).

6) The canvas upper will recommend at least three years of usage and abuse for regular usage.

7) The leather upper is more resistant to wear and tear than the canvas upper.

8) The heaviest maintenance Chacos have to undergo are having straps replaced with parts of the same color (if you want a new look). This is due to the way Chacos are made; parts of the upper must be removed from the rubber sole, and all of it must be sewn back together using a special glue. For this reason, straps requiring replacement do not usually happen until well over a year's worth of usage has occurred.

9) Since Chacos come with so many different designs, models, and colors, everyone's experience will be different. It is possible that one pair of boots will last longer than another pair for different reasons.

10) You must use a sunscreen with a high SPF rating to protect your feet from the sun and UV rays. Without it, the leather upper of your Chacos will eventually fade. And as previously mentioned, you should also protect your feet by wearing socks and shoes. If you don't wear socks or shoes, the leather may get damaged more quickly than if you did so.

Are Chacos Really That Good?

Many people have consented to wearing Chacos, while other have refused to wear them because of their strange appearance. However, even if you’re not a fan of these shoes, one thing can't be denied: they offer comfort in an uncanny way.

Chacos are meant to be worn in a high-traction environment. They are great on the trail, but they are also great around campus. Anywhere that a person is likely to walk, sit, stand or otherwise move around, walking around campus could be a good idea.

Throughout campus there are many places where one can take a little break and chill out for a minute before walking on anymore. One of these places is the outdoor mall that stretches across all of campus and ends at the south entrance into the University Inn (a bar).

If you’re looking for a comfortable way to walk around campus, Chacos are an ideal option. They offer a secure feeling and offer all-day comfort. The shoes also give off a casual appearance but still display a sense of quality that is noticeable to anyone wearing them.
